What is Roxithromycin and How Does it Work?

Indications for Use

Roxithromycin Sandoz is indicated for the treatment of the following types of mild to moderately severe infections in adults caused by or likely to be caused by susceptible microorganisms:

  • Upper respiratory tract infection: acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and sinusitis.

Roxithromycin 150 mg tablets are indicated for the treatment of the following mild to moderately severe infections in children caused by or likely to be caused by susceptible microorganisms:

  • Acute pharyngitis
  • Acute tonsillitis
  • Impetigo

How to Use Roxithromycin

It is important to use Roxithromycin as directed by your doctor. Take Roxithromycin by mouth with food. If you have trouble swallowing the tablet whole, it may be crushed or chewed with a little water. If you have any questions about how to use Roxithromycin, consult your healthcare provider.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Roxithromycin and are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

Store Roxithromycin at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep it in a tight, light-resistant container. Keep Roxithromycin out of the reach of children and away from pets.
